PERLA DIAZ
FORGET PERFECTION
I WANT TO SEE WHAT BROKE YOU DOWN
AND WHAT PUT YOU BEAUTIFULLY BACK TOGETHER

Perla Diaz is a portrait photographer based in Los Angeles. She grew up and attended school in the small beach community of Point Pleasant Beach in New Jersey. After graduation from high school, she continued her studies at University of South Florida, which she later transferred and graduated in 2015 from Florida State University (bachelor's degree in psychology and a minor in entrepreneurship).
Perla has always been the one taking candid photos at parties and did well in art classes, but her deep creativity blossomed in the city of Tallahassee, Florida (FSU). In 2013, she started an online business Planet Perlz, where she thrifted, designed, and repurposed clothing for extra income as she took classes. Here, is where she discovered her love for photography, and decided from that point on that her career would manifest creatively.
In 2016, Perla moved to Los Angeles and added many components to her creative resume, such as digital marketing, website design, production, influencer marketing, creative direction and photography. She's created works for a range of brands and clients like Champion, Angel Brinks, Atlantic Records, Interscope Records (Moneybagg Yo, Arin Ray, Machine Gun Kelly, Yungblud, BlackBear, Kehlani, & more) HOKA, IGK Hair, GlamSquad, Baja East, Mehraban Rugs, & more. Her work has been a part of campaigns, billboards, album art, and advertising for both digital and print.
Perla loves connecting and creating with the different elements of a shoot on a deeper, organic, and introspective level. She enjoys 'being a fly on the wall,' capturing subjects and landscape as they are, honoring the organic essences of the elements of the photo that come together so organically and beautifully. Because of this involvement and depth of creativity, the best results are with her creative direction. She especially loves Portraiture, and working with smaller, independent, and upcoming brands, artists, and people to help give their vision a voice.
